Welcome to the Oregon HamWAN initiative. We are a group of Amateur Radio Operators (Hams) who are working together to promote a modern, multi-megabit, IP based, digital network for amateur radio use.
This network will use 5.8 GHz frequencies allotted to amateur radio to link repeater sites, Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs), and end-users together over the network independently from the commercial Internet.
The primary objective of the Oregon HamWAN is to learn and share information about Radio Frequency (RF) technologies and applications needed in support of emergency communications.
Anyone interested in HamWAN is welcome to participate; it is not necessary to have HamWAN equipment or experience. If you have HamWAN gear, however, and need help getting it configured and on-the-air, please bring it. Our meetings will provide an excellent opportunity to learn-by-doing, build camaraderie, and have fun!
